As promised, this is the first Nomad CEO episode in 6 months.

I went quiet for a stretch. What matters today is that I am back, the podcast is back, and I am building in the open again. Each issue now features one real conversation and a few things I am actually learning while I rebuild.

Three things I have learned

1. Lean into the grief, or it runs you.
You cannot outwork pain. I tried. The only way I found my way back to functioning, and eventually back to happiness, was to stop running from the grief and actually feel it. Lean in, or it quietly takes the wheel.

2. The older I get, the more I see that relationships are what really matter.
Chasing freedom as a nomad cost me closeness. Most people around you never really know you. Holding on to the few who do is not soft; it is survival. It is a big reason the podcast is back: real conversations with real people.

3. Coming back imperfect beats waiting to look impressive.
I wanted to return only once everything was fixed and shiny. That is just hiding with extra steps. Being seen mid-rebuild, before the story is clean, is the harder and braver move. So here I am, unfinished, on purpose.

From this week's podcast

This week's guest is Erik Huberman, founder of Hawke Media.

His agency runs marketing for around 600 brands and has tracked 2.9 billion (!) dollars in revenue (yes, with a B). So when he says most companies bankrupt themselves by misreading their data, it is not a hot take; it is a body count. We went straight at the stuff most marketers get wrong and most founders never hear.

Businesses fail for two reasons. They get underwater financially or the leadership gives up.

Erik Huberman

What you take from it:

  • The Facebook number that tricks founders into killing actually working campaigns (the seven-day window trap).

  • Why he tells the 90,000 agency owners in the US that most of them have no business being in business.

  • The one interview question that tells him in ten seconds whether to hire you.

  • The two reasons every company actually fails, and the one rule that makes yours unkillable.

The full conversation is up now.

THE NOMAD

5 Countries Where Your Foreign Income Pays Zero Tax in 2026 (And How to Actually Qualify)

Most nomads get this backwards. They chase the visa, land somewhere new, and assume the tax problem is solved. It is not.

A digital nomad visa gives you the legal right to stay. It says nothing about who gets to tax your income.

Here are 5 countries where foreign income can legally hit zero, plus the one move almost everyone forgets.

1. UAE (Dubai) Zero personal income tax. No capital gains. No social security on remote earnings. The cleanest option if you earn well and want no local tax at all.

2. Georgia Register as an individual entrepreneur under the small business regime and you pay 1% on turnover. Foreign income sits outside the local net, and you can stay visa-free for up to 365 days.

3. Croatia The digital nomad visa exempts foreign income from local tax for up to 12 months. A rare EU base where your overseas clients do not trigger a local tax bill.

4. Paraguay Territorial system. The country only taxes Paraguay-source income, so money from foreign clients is not taxed locally. Easy residency, low bar to enter.

5. Malaysia Foreign-sourced income received by residents stays exempt through 31 December 2036, subject to conditions. A long runway most nomads have not noticed.

The twist, and this is the part that matters.

Getting one of these visas does not break your tax residency back home. Your home country keeps taxing you until you formally deregister, cut your ties, and establish residency somewhere else. Miss that step and you pay full freight at home no matter where you sleep.

Get a tax residency certificate. Deregister properly. Then the zero is real.

US readers: Washington taxes worldwide income regardless of where you live. Only renouncing ends that. Talk to a cross-border accountant before you move.

Hit reply and tell me one thing you are rebuilding right now. I read every one.

Guide: one soft offer link at most once a month, and only when it is the honest next step. Most weeks, the reply prompt is the only call to action.

Honest next step if you advertise: drop your site into 1Signal and see where your offer stands, then build the test that wins. Free, instant.
